2. Cultivation Goal of the Major

The curriculums aim at training talents who have solid theory foundations on informatics geomatics, mathematics, physics, computer and other related disciplines, also with strong innovative scientific research abilities and the modern technology of information geomatics to adapt to the needs of the economic and social development. The graduates can be engaged in geomatics, urban surveying, digital city construction in the surveying departments; they can also be engaged in the land resource surveying and management in the land departments, or surveying and mapping in areas of geology, transportation and oil exploration, or developing spatial information system in relative high-tech enterprises.

Technology of Information Geomatics is formed from the modern geomatics science combined with other disciplines. Based on the digital surveying system, it can grasp and update the information quickly, and realize the automated and integrated management, network production and distribution. In this way, the information and products of geomatics technology can be socialized, and guarantee the information construction of our country.

Innovative Experimental Area for Cultivating Talents on Information Geomatics aims at training top talents with creativeness and high professional skills who can support and guide the development of technology of information geomatics so as to guarantee the construction and development of the information geomatics system.

The curriculum for the Innovative Experimental Classes is to integrate the existed professional curriculum and emphasize the broad knowledge and solid foundation. It does not break down the major orientations, but emphasize practical skills and modern technology instead. It takes the mode of supervisor system and research teaching, strengthens engineering practice and scientific research, explores talents training features of information geomatics, so as to establish new cultivation mode for future talents on the major of Geodesy and Geomatics.

Introduction to Geomatics, Digital Topography, Error Theory and Foundation of Surveying Adjustment, Remote Sensing Principle and its Application, The Principle and Application of GPS, Digital Image Processing.

Core Curriculums:

Foundation of Geodesy, Photogrammetry, Cartography, GIS, Engineering Geodesy, Project Management, Process of information Geomatics Technology, Sharing and Service of Geographic Information, Urban Space Information, Land Resource Management and so forth.

Bilingual Curriculums:

Error Theory and Least Square Adjustment, The Principle and Application of GPS, Foundation of Geodesy, Engineering Geodesy.

Basic Experiments and Practices:

Physical Experiments, Practice of Digital Terrain Surveying, Practice of GPS Surveying and Data Processing, Practice of Remote Sensing and Digital Photogrammetry, Practice of GIS system.

Geodesy calculation and practice, Course Design for Error Theory and Foundation of Surveying Adjustment, Practice of Engineering Surveying and the Course Design, Design and Practice of Engineering Project, Integrate Practice of Modern Geomatics Technology.

8. Graduation and Other Important Declarations

Graduation is granted when the undergraduate has got the minimum credits required and passed the thesis oral defense, also with his/her scores of English test meeting the requirement of Wuhan University. If he/she meets the requirements the degree granting, he/she will be awarded with the Degree of Bachelor of Engineering.
